Qigong in San Francisco, CA

San Francisco Qigong Class Schedule

Qigong (Chi Kung) 气功  is an ancient Chinese health care system that incorporates physical postures, breathing techniques, and focused intention.  "Qi" is the life force that flows through all things, and "Gong" can be described as a skill that is cultivated through practice.  As such, "Qigong" can be translated as cultivated energy used to maintain health, heal the body, and increase vitality.  More specifically, Qigong has been found to help manage stress, build stamina, enhance one's immune system, and has been proven to reduce hypertension and incidence of falling.  Our Qigong classes in San Francisco focus on re-establishing the connection of mind, body, and soul, thus activating the body's natural healing abilities and can benefit people of any age, gender, or lifestyle.

Why choose our Qigong classes in San Francisco?

Quality Training Focused on YOUR Health

Set to relaxing music, our San Francisco Qigong classes are taught in a very open, friendly, supportive, and stress-free atmosphere with special focus on empowering and enhancing your overall health and well-being.  The sessions consist of a sequence of guided meditation, stretching, and basic movements that flow together seamlessly and are repeated multiple times to aid in retention.  These exercises are designed to calm the mind, relax the body, encourage the free flow of Qi by opening the body's meridian pathways, and strengthen the joints, muscles, tendons, and ligaments.  Light calisthenics may also be incorporated, providing for a complete full-body yet low-impact workout.

With Master Ng leading by example with over twenty years of experience, students in our San Francisco Qigong classes can reap the benefits of Qigong and establish an effective health maintenance regimen without having to memorize long forms or routines.

Moreover, the movements within the Flow sequences taught in our Qigong classes in San Francisco can be performed individually or together.  They are also compact and do not require much room, making them convenient to practice at home, at the office, or on the go.

HEALTH BENEFITS OF QIGONG

Why get started with Qigong San Francisco?

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, there is famous saying from the Yellow Emperor's Classic (黄帝内经, Huang Di Nei Jing) that says "Bu Tong Ze Tong, Tong Ze Bu Tong" (不通则痛,通则不痛), which means when there is no free flow, there is pain, and when there is free flow, there is no pain.

This is a foundational principle of Chinese medicine as well as Qigong (Chi Kung) practice.  In order to maintain optimal health with no pain, your Qi ( Chi, life force energy) must circulate richly and smoothly throughout your entire body with zero disruptions or stagnation.

An individual with strong Qi is alive, strong, alert, and energetic. Weaker Qi force, on the other hand, can manifest as fatigue, sluggishness, and illness.  It is through the relaxed moving meditation of Qigong (Chi Kung) that one can augment their Qi life force.  In this way, Qigong (Chi Kung) can help a weaker individual grow stronger or an ill person become well and robust.

Qi also has a direct influence on one's mental capacity.  An imbalance of Qi can result in feelings of agitation, irritability, or depression.  Qigong (Chi Kung) can help to smooth one's emotions, dispersing stress and bringing about feelings of grounding, enhanced focus, balance, and tranquility.

Benefits of our San Francisco Qigong classes:

  • Qigong (Chi Kung) relaxes the body and increases flexibility by loosening tense muscles, lubricating the joints, and strengthening the tendons to promote smooth Qi flow throughout the body.

  • Qigong (Chi Kung) has the ability to strengthen and tonify the internal organs.  Everyone has some degree of imbalance in their bodies, and Qigong (Chi Kung) can hone in and address these specific needs.

  • Through its deep breathing patterns, Qigong (Chi Kung) can benefit cardiovascular and respiratory functions by allowing more oxygen to enter deeper into the body's tissues.

  • Qigong (Chi Kung) also improves circulation by increasing the elasticity of the body's blood vessels.  As such, it can be an effective tool in helping to manage both high and low blood pressure.

  • The synthesis of controlled breathing with fluid energy movements not only strengthens Qi but also can enhance the nervous system.  In this way, Qigong (Chi Kung) can  improve hand-foot-eye coordination and body-spatial awareness.

  • Students in our San Francisco Qigong classes also learn proper body alignment to enhance balance and prevent accidental injuries and falls.

  • Qigong (Chi Kung) can also be a form of detox, enhancing the body's natural lymphatic function and cleansing the mind and body of grief, frustration, anger, or stress.
